Sweet Natas

I normally bake homemade desserts. 

Today time just got away from me because I am having friend over tonight to discuss a new venture.

 Normally if that happens, I just head over to my favorite cupcake shoppe. However, when I got there this afternoon, they were OUT of all their cupcakes. (Yeah really.)

This lead to me driving around Studio City trying different (and mostly yucky) bakeries looking for something sweet for my guests tonight. 

After lots of disappointment, I found Natas Pastries.
 Located in a small shopping center in Sherman Oaks, this café & restaurant is just fabulous.

I tried the chocolate eclair cream puff (my favorite dessert, and the one about which I am the most picky.) It was like tasting something my Nana made for me as a child! The puff was baked perfectly, and dipped in yummy chocolate. This was nothing though, compared to the amazing custard filled center.
 I was in heaven.

 I also tried what this little Portuguese shoppe is famous for, the Natas! 

A traditional Portuguese pastry that is kind of like a créme bruleé in a phyllo dough shell..

Both were fabulous, and I am already looking forward to my next visit!

My guests are going to LOVE this dessert!
