For me the best sandwich I have ever had is a tie between the
teriyaki beef, & ham w/red cabbage sandwiches
my parents' deli were known for.
My parents, however, stopped serving up deli style fare years ago,
and so went my love of sandwiches... or so I thought.
Enter Bay Cities Deli in Santa Monica, CA.
Home to the famous "Godmother" sandwich.
The "Godmother" is served on fresh baked italian bread, and comes with
genoa salami, mortadella, coppacola, ham, prosciutto, & provolone.
Of course there is a whole selection of sandwiches,
served as is or with "the works".
mayo, mustard (yellow, honey, or dijon), onions, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, Italian dressing & mild or hot pepper salad.
I recommend the works w/ mild pepper salad. That's what makes this sandwich truly stand apart!
Bay Cities also has a great selection of goodies to choose from. In addition to a deli, there is a full market, complete with specialty items.
Oh, and don't forget dessert. The Dulce de Leche cheese cake was delish!

Please take pictures at an angle. I can't see what is in that sandwich at all, it just looks like bread with a little bit of junk. I know it sounds appealing but visually I'm not feeling it.
I think it looks appealing, especially since, as she mentioned, their bread is "fresh baked." I can't wait to try this place! Wish I lived closer to LA and Santa Monica!

PS - It always makes me laugh when people can offer criticism but not identify themselves. Silly little person.
Thank you for the great input!
